Challace Pahlevan-Ibrekic, MBE, CIP, is the Director of Regulatory Affairs for the Institue of Health System Science (IHSS), one of six Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research affiliated with Northwell Health, the largest healthcare provider in New York State. She oversees post-approval monitoring and quality assurance activities for IHSS and provides regulatory consultation to Institute-affiliated faculty regarding their biomedical and behavioral research, including development and ethical uses of artificial intelligence, pragmatic research, and implementation science in healthcare settings. Challace is committed to fostering effective partnerships between administrative support services, investigators and research volunteers, helping to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application. She serves as the Culture of Care in Research Curriculum Lead for the Feinstein Institutes, where incoming researchers undergo training to uphold core values of connectedness, awareness, respect and empathy during the conduct of research to ensure participants’ rights and welfare are protected and to promote trust in the research process.
With a background in Senior IRB leadership, regulatory compliance and policy creation, she's dedicated to ensuring that innovative research is ethical, practical and compliant. Challace is passionate about human rights and responsible AI, believes in open data sharing, and is deeply involved in reviewing and revising policies that shape the future of healthcare innovation. She currently serves as subject matter expert, consultant, and IRB member for Northwell Health and Yale University, and develops content for the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program).
