Ms. Kaitlyn Nestor is the Laboratory Animal Care Facility Manager for Kennesaw State University’s (KSU) Comparative Medicine Resources (CMR) facility located in Kennesaw, Georgia. She achieved her Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATg) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) in 2019. Kaitlyn has always had a passion for working with animals as we started working in a local veterinary clinic throughout high school. She transitioned into emergency and specialty veterinary medicine while obtaining her Bachelor of Science majoring in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Virginia Commonwealth University. After graduating she moved to Atlanta, GA and in 2015 she accepted her first role in at a contract research organization specializing in cardiovascular medical device research and design. Kaitlyn continued to develop her career in laboratory animal medicine by accepting roles at UNC Chapel Hill and then the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In February of 2022 Kaitlyn then took on the challenge of starting a new animal program at one of the largest universities in Georgia. Throughout her career, she has gained experience with over 35 species and worked in ABSL 2-4 infectious disease laboratories which aided in developing a comprehensive CMR program. She enjoys training researchers and animal users on technical procedures and promoting the importance of animal research in her community.
