Aubrey Schoenleben, PhD, CPIA, is the Director of Regulatory Affairs & External Partnerships at the University of Washington’s (UW) Office of Animal Welfare, where she plays a key role in guiding regulatory compliance and ethical practices in UW’s animal research program. Her responsibilities include managing regulatory reporting, public records requests, and facilitating research collaborations through MOUs. Aubrey is an alternate member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and is dedicated to expanding UW’s initiatives in the 3Rs for animal research, furthering the University’s focus on ethical and responsible research practices.
Beyond her role at UW, Aubrey leads the Federal Demonstration Partnership’s Compliance Unit Standard Procedures (CUSP) project—a 21st Century Cures Act initiative aimed at reducing regulatory burden and enhancing efficiency in research compliance.
Aubrey earned her Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, and holds a B.S. in Neuroscience and Psychology from Allegheny College. She is also a Certified Professional IACUC Administrator.
