Marilyn LG Lamm, PhD, is Chair of Institutional Biosafety Committees (IBCs) at Clinical Biosafety Services (CBS) and Scientific Member of the Castle Institutional Review Board (IRB). Both CBS and Castle are subsidiaries of Sabai. Dr. Lamm had been a Principal Investigator in cancer biology research. During her professional career in academia, she had served in leadership roles in the three I's of institutional regulatory committees: IBC, IRB, and IACUC (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee). Her involvement in these Committees has not only given her invaluable insights into their specific roles and responsibilities but also afforded her a unique perspective on interrelationships among the Committees that can lead to a more safe and ethical conduct of research. At a time when human gene transfer studies continue to increase, she is highly committed to engage in conversations that build pathways among regulatory committees, particularly between the IBC and IRB, to ensure that clinical research continues to provide protection to all study stakeholders: study participants, clinical personnel, close contacts or third parties, and the environment.
