As Chief Operating and Communications Officer at the Translational Research Institute for Space Health (TRISH), Rachael Dempsey leads strategic operations and communications that advance human health solutions for deep space exploration. Her leadership drives innovation and collaboration with NASA and partners like including SpaceX and Axiom Space. With a background in business strategy, communications, and operational leadership, her work pushes the frontiers of space but also create impactful, ethical advancements in healthcare research here on Earth, including in remote or underserved areas.
During her more than five years at Baylor College of Medicine, Rachael has played a pivotal role in ensuring that TRISH’s cutting-edge space health research adheres to ethical and regulatory standards. She has facilitated successful collaborations with national and international partners, navigating complex regulatory environments while securing national media placements that highlight TRISH’s commitment to responsible, high-impact research.
With communications and operational leadership experience spanning healthcare, education and space exploration, Rachael is committed to promoting ethically driven, mission-oriented initiatives. As the former head of marketing and communications for Families Empowered, a nonprofit serving over 72,000 parents, she championed access to education for underserved communities by expanding the organization's presence into new markets and spearheading the launch of ApplyHouston.org to simplify the charter school application process. She is equally passionate about advancing the ethical dimensions of human health and well-being and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible for both space and Earth-based health research.
Rachael holds an MBA from Rice Business - Jones Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Arizona State University.
