Committee Member
North Star Review Board
Heather Miller, PhD, has worked in human research protections since 2008 and is a proud member of the North Star (Learning IRB). She has been facilitating IRB’s 100% remotely since 2014. She is passionate about training and educating researchers, members, and staff to protect the privacy, safety, and well-being of human subjects. Most recently, Heather has been working with "Clubhouse" to support free and pragmatic information to support IRB professionals. She has spent the last three years working with individuals and universities to provide best practices for working with American Indians and Alaska Natives for IRB's research. Heather has worked with leaders from the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund and the Online Writing Centers Association to help train researchers to create accessible recruitment and consent documents for research participants. Heather has experience facilitating end-to-end processes to create fully online IRB offices that provide systematic training, education, and writing services for novice student researchers. When she isn't writing policy and examining internal processes, you'll find her walking her 3 dogs and attempting to make the perfect poached egg for breakfast.
