Dr. Ahrens was born and raised on the beaches of San Diego with a passion for animals and research. He earned his undergraduate degrees in physiology and neuroscience at UC San Diego, then went on to veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Los Angeles where he earned his DVM with an emphasis in medical research. He then earned his PhD in Radiochemistry and Cancer Imaging at The Irell and Manella Graduate School of Biological Sciences, completed a residency in laboratory animal medicine at the University of Southern California, then did a postdoctoral fellowship at The City of Hope Beckman Research Institute. Brad spent 6 years as a research veterinarian for Caltech and USC in Los Angeles during a 10 year term as Veterinary Director for Universal Studios. In 2022, Brad left Southern California and moved to Indiana where he is now the Site Lead/Attending Veterinarian and Director of Animal Welfare for the beautiful 460 acre Labcorp Greenfield research site.
